Bali Hosts World Beach Games 2023

Jakarta – Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Angela Tanoesoedibjo, fully supports Bali being chosen as the host for the World Beach Games 2023, scheduled to take place from August 5 to 12, 2023.

Angela met with representatives from the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) to discuss the agenda. The meeting occurred at Sapta Pesona Building, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (July 13) last week.

Angela stated that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy fully supports the World Beach Games 2023 event. She mentioned that they would collaborate with stakeholders to prepare travel packages for international tourists coming to witness this international beach sports event.

According to her, hosting international events like the World Beach Games 2023 aligns with the Indonesian government’s efforts to attract foreign tourists to the country through world-class events.

“I thank ANOC for this opportunity and also appreciate them for bringing international events to Indonesia. This is part of our strategy to attract foreign tourists post-pandemic through international events,” she said, as reported on the Ministry’s website.

Moreover, Angela mentioned that they would utilize social media platforms to promote local wisdom and Indonesian traditions leading up to the World Beach Games 2023.

“Indonesia has more than 200 million social media users, so when we promote our local wisdom in the event, it will spread widely very quickly,” Angela said.

During the meeting, ANOC Secretary-General Gunilla Lindberg added that the hosting of the World Beach Games 2023 is expected to revive the tourism sector in Indonesia, which has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is our goal in selecting Bali as the host of the World Beach Games 2023, so that Indonesia’s tourism can rise again,” Lindberg said.
